Omar Epps in slasher horror thriller movie Trick (2019)
Omar Epps in slasher horror thriller movie Trick (2019)

Trick is a 2019 American horror serial killer thriller feature film directed by Patrick Lussier from a screenplay co-written with Todd Farmer. The movie stars Omar Epps, Ellen Adair, Tom Atkins and Jamie Kennedy.

Plot:

An elusive serial killer descends upon a small town annually and is responsible for gruesome murders year after year, each seemingly unrelated. No-one believes this could be the same killer. Detective Mike Denver (Omar Epps) has faced Trick once before, having shot and seemingly killed him. Or so everyone keeps telling him. However, Denver knows Trick is still out there, and he’s coming back for revenge…

Background:

Trick is, for lack of a better term, ‘slasher-noir’ horror set in upstate New York, spanning five consecutive Halloweens where serial killer Trick Weaver taunts police up and down the Hudson River practicing murder as performance art,” Lussier explained to Bloody Disgusting.  “The Benton Township, where Trick’s murderous journey begins, has fallen into decay, almost like Trick’s initial killings didn’t just claim individual victims but killed the town itself.”

Lussier’s lengthy list of horror credentials began while working alongside Wes Craven in some of the genre’s biggest hits including the ground-breaking Scream franchise, Red EyeNew Nightmare and Vampire in Brooklyn. Lussier directed and co-wrote My Bloody Valentine and was a writer and producer on Terminator Genisys. He also directed Dracula 2000 and Dracula II: Ascension.

Perhaps most importantly to horror fans, Lussier has promised, “We’ve gone out of our way to make the kills as grounded and practical as possible. Gary J. Tunnicliffe, who has been my partner in murder and mayhem since 2000, has once again returned to craft a festival of ferocity, drenched in bloody steel.”

Writer Todd Farmer has a long history in the horror genre including Jason X and The Messengers and has worked previously alongside Lussier co-writing My Bloody Valentine.

Film Bridge International is handling worldwide sales for Trick at the Cannes Film Market.

Terrifier 2 will begin filming later this year

Terrifier 2 is an upcoming American supernatural slasher horror feature film featuring Art the Clown. Damien Leone (All Hallows’ Eve; Frankenstein vs. The Mummy) will write and direct the highly-anticipated sequel to Terrifier.

Plot:

After being resurrected by a sinister entity, Art the Clown returns to Miles County where he must hunt down and destroy a teenage girl and her younger brother on Halloween…

Leone had this to say on social media:

“Thank you all very much for your patience! We are thrilled to finally announce that Terrifier 2 is funded and slated to begin filming in the fall of this year! Our production company Dark Age Cinema is producing one again which means the inmates are still running the asylum. We are unchained and unrestricted, so rest assured, Terrifier 2 will be the merciless, no holds barred follow-up you’ve been hoping for. If you thought we pushed the envelope in part 1… you haven’t seen anything yet.”

“Now since the scope of Terrifier 2 is 10x bigger than the original, we can still really use your help! Thankfully, we’ve gotten numerous requests at conventions and on social media to launch a crowdfunding campaign for the sequel so that is our goal! In the coming weeks we will launch a small Indiegogo campaign with the hopes of raising some much needed additional funds.”

“Perks will range from social media shout outs to screen worn Art the Clown accessories, to even being killed by the man himself in Terrifier 2! If we reach our goal, the proceeds will go towards the biggest and most mind blowing scene in the script which requires an unprecedented amount of special effects, extras and stunts. Now although I cannot spoil the details of the scene, try to imagine if Art the Clown was in charge of the prom mayhem in Carrie! With your help, we can truly turn this scene into an unforgettable piece of horror cinema.”

“Again, we want to thank you from the bottom of our black hearts for your constant support and patience. We mean it when we say, the success of Terrifier is based solely on the dedication of our fanbase. In return, we want you to be involved every step of the way and we promise to deliver a film that surpasses your expectations!”

Here’s a reminder of Terrifier:
