Halloween Pussy Trap Kill! Kill! is a 2017 American horror film directed by Jared Cohn (The Domicile; Devil’s Domain; Little Dead Rotting Hood; 12/12/12). The Cleopatra Entertainment production stars Sara Malakul Lane, Richard Grieco, and Demetrius Stear.
On Halloween, an all-girl rock band called Kill Pussy Kill ventures out to play their biggest show to date. However, before hitting the road they manage to unwittingly upset a man in a wheelchair. Unfortunately, this man turns out to be an evil genius dead set on revenge.
The evil genius manages to lure the girls into his Hell House, and when they wake up from being gassed, they find themselves trapped inside an escape-proof room filled with a vicious variety of devices that can kill them as well as a variety of weapons that can be used on each other.
The rules are simple: advance through all three rooms and you are allowed to go free. The catch is, in order to make it to the next room, someone must die…
Reviews:
“It wallows in the gore, all of it designed to be as stomach-churning as possible, even as none of it is (purposefully) realistic. And it does all this with a campy smirk, foregoing standards such as the Final Girl trope in favor of shock and awe. This is creepy slasher-esque fodder made in homage to 70s drive-in B-movie horror…” David Duprey, That Moment In
“Halloween Pussy Trap Kill Kill isn’t amusing, it’s punishment, with Cohn missing the art of performance by encouraging his cast to scream and cry for most of the run time, which immediately wears out its welcome. The constant infighting tends to take the sting out of any possible suspense.” Brian Orndorf, Blu-ray.com
“Mustaine’s embarrassingly weak bid to channel Tobin Bell is, sadly, not nearly as grating as a genuinely offensive Islamabad-set prologue featuring ISIS-like executions and the reduction of a complex contemporary issue to a cheap plot device. There’s no one to root for, with personality-vacuum final girl Sara Malakul Lane doing her resilient heroine shtick with both boobs hanging out of her ripped top…” Steven West, Horrorscreams Videovault
“The military angle exists solely so they can exploit the shock of a soldier getting his head cut off by a terrorist. It’s cheap and unnecessary and it’s the only time when Halloween Pussy Trap Kill Kill actually seems to have any ounce of courage in its exploitation violence. The rest of the movie is remarkably tame by comparison…” Sean Patrick, Horror Media
“None of the band members has much personality, not even their leader, Amber Stardust, played by Sara Malakul Lane […] Yeah, not good. This a brutal but derivative film that has no reason for being, except to sell a soundtrack album. Not recommended under any circumstances…” Joe Bendel, J.B. Spins
” …it requires some grindhouse sensibilities, a strong stomach to make it through the bloodier stuff, and a portion of humour to properly appreciate the over-the-topness of some elements of the film (including the girls campy outfits) – but if your tastes are similar to mine and you don’t have problems with any of that, you’ll in all probability utterly enjoy this film, a fast-paced genre piece…” Mike Haberfelner, Search My Trash
“The main thing that will make this film memorable is its use of neon costumes which fit with the exploitation aesthetic. There’s also some decent music of the sort you’d expect, which goes some way to generating a sense of energy. In the end, though, it all falls a bit flat, with nothing to offer but twists we’ve seen a dozen times before.” Jennie Kermode, Eye for Film
The dialogue is fun, with some moments of cattiness from the girls, Mustaine’s growls as the villain, and Grieco as the creepy mechanic. The maniac’s wife is a small role, but the actress really makes the most of her scenes and has some fun lines to rattle off. So between the colorful characters and offbeat moments, the writing hits some fun notes and earns a few points.” Marc Fusion
“It seems like Jared basically went to escape rooms around L.A. and binged Saw in the same weekend. There are plenty more campy characters, including our bandaged “mastermind”’s worse/better half who also enjoys Halloween and throwing a grenade at three pre-kindergarten trick or treaters. I’m all for anti-heroes but how are we supposed to root for a meth-smoking, bleach-haired sexual predator?” Eamon Tracy, Irish Film Critic
